Read Hayes, PhD, has one goal: to find solutions that will reduce individual and group-related crimes. In addition to being a research scientist/criminologist at the University of Florida, Dr. Hayes pursues this quest as the director of the Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC).
The LPRC is comprised of 80 major retail corporations, multiple law enforcement leaders, trade associations and over 100 protective solution/technology partners. The group works together year-round in the field, as well as in simulation labs with scientists and practitioners. Leveraging various innovations including virtual reality (VR), Dr. Hayes leads the LPRC to uncover better processes and smart technologies that reduce theft, fraud and violence.
Besides authoring four books and more than 300 articles, Dr. Hayes is also a media source for the New York Times, Washington Post, Bloomberg Business, Wall Street Journal, CNN, NPR, FoxNews, NBC, CBS, USA Today, and the BBC.
