Troy was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 as part of an iconic class including John Madden and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

After retiring in 2000, Troy served as FOX's lead NFL analyst from 2001 to 2021 before joining Monday Night Football . He and his partner, play-by-play announcer Joe Buck, are the longest tenured announcer pairing in NFL history. Troy has broadcast six Super Bowls to date, with a seventh on the horizon in 2027.

Outside of football & broadcasting, Troy has achieved vast success in the business world. From 2005-2009, he was the co-owner of the NASCAR series team alongside fellow former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. He previously was a part owner of the San Diego Padres and has owned car dealerships across the state of Texas.
